Twelfth. That was just more difficult to type than is really warranted, I think. Not really a very useful word. A little hung up on itself if you ask me, and a very unflattering intestinal scramble of consonants at the end there. I guess some utility for discussing eggs or overtime, although truthfully, not that much! Yeah, but what has twelfth ever done, maliciously, to you, you say. Damn. I didn’t mean for this paragraph to become so accusatory. Now you made feel a little bit like an asshole for bringing it up.

The problem with our last announcement was that too many people believed it. So now we’re forced to push back an extra week.
Actually we’re abjectly apologetic - we felt bad enough pushing back 5.1 the first time, so there will be some serious crying-into-the-morning donuts over the fact that we just need a few more days to get ourselves spruced up and ready for inspection. We have some great stories to share with you, so we beg your pardon (authors and readers alike) and hope you’ll check back with us on September 7, when the issue goes live, for real this time, no foolies.
(We have this rule about postponing an issue three times that involves the voluntary loss of digits, starting with the pinky. It seemed perfectly reasonable at the time.)
Wow, so…we’ve received the biggest response yet to our last call for submissions, which kept rolling in at a steady pace until right up to the deadline (and then some). The consensus between Adam and I is that a race to the finish probably does not serve the greater good here, so with apologies, we’re pushing back the issue until early September. We’re taking the extra time to finish reading and assembling the site, so we won’t be considering additional work for this issue, but thanks to everyone who submitted - if you haven’t heard back from us yet, your sub is still under deliberation and we will respond as quickly as we can.
To all recent Conte submitters: please know we are actively reading for our summer issue. We are doing our best to adhere to our three-month response time, so if you submitted work during or before January 2009 and have not yet heard back from the editors, please do not hesitate to query us.
